Skal is committed to providing demonstrable reliability of organic products in the Netherlands in a supervisory capacity.

An agricultural product or food may only be referred to as organic if the production process satisfies the legal requirements. The European government establishes the rules, the almost 3300 certified organic entrepreneurs satisfy these rules and Skal monitors whether this is actually the case. This ensures the consumer can rest assured an organic product truly is a biological product.

Skal monitors the biological chain, by order of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture & Innovation, through inspection, certification and, where required, sanctions like withdrawing a certificate. Skal makes the reliability of organic products visible for the customer and consumer by issuing a hallmark. Skal therefore contributes to the organic sector’s demonstrable reliability.
